I just saw this banner at ebworld and had to laugh. I mean honestly. Genres are an important marketing tool, but when you start inventing acronyms that are as long as the fucking title we've got problems.
The features read like Gravy Trader's, and include such things as "Housing and Pets" and "Magery" (Magery? What the fuck is that?). If the reviews are any indicator, the game is a dud. At least they can say they were the first MMOFPSRPG.
MMORPGs. I lost the better part of a year of my life to this devil spawn (Asheron's Call). It blended the worst of Internet culture and poor game design:
Stud_Boy_072: r u m or f?
Sexy_Mama_174: lol lol lol
Stud_Boy_072: letz camp out @ unded spawn point with other 200 campers and wait for loot
Sexy_Mama_174: ok lol
I finally realized that I had to quit the addiction when I cancelled with real friends to have a drink so that I could meet online with a group who were planning a quest. Never again.
That's pretty hardcore man...I knew those things were evil. I have been guilty of the same crime sometimes...but for single player action. It's like a disease.
There have been so many times where I've almost signed up for a MMO game. Whether it was UO, DAOC, AO, Planetside, Star Wars Galaxies (before I found out it sucked), and now I'm actually considering World of Warcraft.
There's something appealing about a persistent gaming community. However the "marriages" and dropping real coin for virtual furniture kind of makes me a little wary.
