Site Maintenance: Upgrading to Movable Type 3.121
My quick and dirty upgrade of Movable Type seems to have been successful. I’m especially excited about using MT’s implementation of Category heirarchies, something that Wordpress has been doing since the beginning.
The process was pretty easy, and took just over half an hour to get things up and running again. I would recommended it for anyone still running 2.661. SixApart’s licensing scheme isn’t as draconian as some would make it seem; as long as you’re still running your single-author non-commercial blog you can get the full version for free. Most importantly, though, the deluge of comment spam I have recieved was finally put to rest by an up to date version of Jay Allen’s most excellent MT-Blacklist plugin, an invaluable application in the face of even the most cleverly written, iron-clad URL exclusions.

Are the trackbacks new, or am I just on crack? Also, please make me a calendar. Or if you’re not going to do that, please make me a search function
Also, I like ham sandwiches, but don’t go too heavy on the mayo.

No, you’re on crack.
I turned them on when you asked a while back; originally I had turned them off because it was just another facet of this site that was being violated by spammers. Nobody used them before that anyway.
Calendar: I believe I’ve told you my opinion on those already. Although I will consider it now that updates are getting more sporadic.
Search function: Consider it moved from down below where it’s useless to everyone. Jakob Nielsen would probably scream like a little girl over that one.
Get your own damn sandwich.

Welcome to the next level bro. If you ever figure out TypeKey, please let me know. Something in my script still doesn’t let it work and MT’s documentation is less than helpful.
