Where did this site come from? Where? Have I been too transfixed on gaming? How is it that the anti-hero of modern rock has had his very own home on the web for a week without me knowing about it? It’s a bit on the unattractive side, but I’m pretty keen on the blog-style content.
After the breakup of Zwan, Billy hinted pretty heavily about going solo. But I didn’t expect him to head into the studio this soon. Corgan notes: “I am excited to work on this music, because for the first time in my life it will be my tunes with no compromises to anyone or anything. It’s gonna be loud and beautiful and poetic and dumb. Just the way I like it.”
Technically this is his first solo project, but as he said himself in the interview many people – including former Pumpkins and Zwan bandmates – would argue otherwise. With Corgan now finally having complete creative control over his musical vision, I expect nothing less than greatness from his new record.

This is apropos of nothing, but seeing as how that perennially annoying American McGee has kicked his “I AM TEH GREATEST GAME DESIGNER EVARRR11!!” hype-machine into full gear once again (I’m sure you’ve read about his upcoming films with Disney), I thought you might enjoy this pic:

I said 1 day to the wife “Billy Corgan has a god complex” she responded “I thought the guy from Creed had a God complex.” I then explained “that the guy from Creed has an I am a Golden God and though shall bow before my ass and worship me complex, and that Billy Corgan has an I am God and though shalt do my bidding to the letter or face my wrath complex.”

I’m really excited about new billy music
I read somewhere that it’s gonna be a ‘futuristic rock album’.electronical?
hope the music will give me as much as earlier billy stuff has.
The American McGee comments may be way off topic (any regular visitor to PA will have even seen the comic before, or at least remember the battle with the character’s trademark holders) but McGee’s recent deal with Disney for his upcoming “OZ” game may be worth noting. Unfortunately after Alice garnered a few decent reviews he suddenly felt as if he was some sort of visonary. I’m sorry, but slapping a “dark” theme on a traditionally wholesome setting doesn’t exactly take a lot of talent to pull off (see also: Todd McFarlane).
Back to the original post: I really hope Billy goes rock on this album, Medallia. He’s shown in the past what can be done with electronic/rock fusions on Adore, the Ransom soundtrack and even some parts of Mellon Collie. But I think his strong suit is putting well-written lyrics to highly listenable rock tunes. Even though Star of the Sea was a very spiritual album, I wouldn’t be entirely opposed to another album with a similar theme. You’d only have to read his site to figure out that might just be where he’s headed.
